<head>Biographical Note</head> <p><note><p>American poet, short story writer, essayist, novelist, editor, and educator Robert Kelly has created a large body of work, much of which is experimental and which focuses on different modes of expression.</p></note></p><p> He has also encouraged other writers of experimental poetry and fiction through developing writing courses, holding workshops. Kelly has promoted their work in several literary magazines which he co-founded, such as <title>Chelsea Review</title>, <title>Trobar</title>, <title>Matter</title>, and <title>Sulfur</title>.   Kelly is the Asher B. Edelman Professor of Languages and Literature at Bard College in New York, where he has taught since 1961.</p><p>

Kelley's three-page letter written to John Martin lists corrections and offers suggestions for the design of "The Common Shore." </p> </scopecontent>
