Gogarty developed friendships with other members of the Irish Literary Renaissance, such as James Joyce and W. B. Yeats. Gogarty's poems were well thought of during that period by W. B. Yeats and George Russell [AE]. Gogarty also published works under pseudonyms. Known as a satirist, Gogarty's works sometimes inspired controversy.</p></note></p><p><bibref>"Gogarty, Oliver St. John, 1878–1957" Literature Online. http://lion.chadwyck.com (accessed February 12, 2007).</bibref><bibref>"Oliver St. John Gogarty/1878–1957" Biography Resource Center. http://galenet.galegroup.com (accessed February 12, 2007).</bibref></p> </bioghist> <scopecontent encodinganalog="520">
