The clippings appear to be from different publications, with no discernible organization.</p></note></p><p>The food recipes, medical receipts, and housekeeping instructions are arranged in no apparent order; for example, one page displays a variety of clippings which include the receipts for croup, cancer of the nose, and hair oil, alongside recipes for ginger nuts, federal cake, and sugar cake. Other food receipts within this volume include instructions for cakes, cookies, breads, and vegetables. The medicinal receipts include cures for snake bites, measles, hives, and rheumatism. Housekeeping instructions include improving candlewicks, exterminating flies and roaches, and making cement. With the exception of the instructions on how to kill flies and roaches, all of the handwritten recipes are food-based; however, the printed clippings include food, medicinal, and housekeeping receipts.</p><p>The handwriting is in ink on unlined paper, most of which bears staining and spotting. The book is long and narrow measuring approximately 10 x 27 cm.</p> </scopecontent>
