Description
Speech concerning the seating of Henry A. du Pont as a Senator from Delaware. Delaware's legislature was in turmoil as "Gas" Addicks (John Edward Addicks) had decided to become a Senator and poured money into Delaware. The end result was that the Senate of the United States voted 31 to 30 against du Pont being seated and Delaware actually did not have a Senator for two terms. Du Pont eventually became Senator when Addicks was destroyed with the help of T. Coleman du Pont.
