St. John Greer Ervine (1883–1971) is best known for his plays, some of which
were staged at the Abbey Theatre. He also managed the Abbey Theatre for a brief

Note</head> <p><note><p> This collection contains a small group of  correspondence sent by St. John Greer
Ervine over a period of thirty years. One 1931 letter was sent to Kenneth Lawson.
The remaining letters were addressed to Harold Frederick Rubinstein and are dated from 1951–1961. All are
typed letters signed with some corrections. There is also a photograph labeled 
"Honey Ditches, Seaton, Devon." It is addressed to
Harold Frederick Rubinstein and dated Christmas 1961. The letters discuss
George Bernard Shaw, various anecdotes, and a book on Shaw which Ervine is
writing. Pencil notations on one of the Rubinstein letters may be by the
