Born on June 13, 1865, in Sandymount, Ireland, he was  the eldest child of the renowned Irish painter, John Butler Yeats.  W. B. Yeats to Scottish writer George MacDonald which was originally laid in Yeats' <title>A Speech &amp; Two Poems</title> (Special Collections call number: SPEC S22 PR 5904 .S63 1937).  There is a response to Yeats' letter from George MacDonald's secretary stating that the book and letter have been received.  This is dated March 9, 1938.</p></note></p> </scopecontent>
