Anglo-Irish author Edith Anna Oenone Somerville (1858–1949) partnered with her cousin Violet Martin to write novels under the names “Somerville and Ross."

This collection consists of an autograph letter signed by E. Œ. (Edith Œnone) Somerville to Mrs. Butler. Somerville mentions her new book and letters of Miss Edgeworth. Somerville identifies Butler as Edgeworth's niece. Somerville mentions researching a reference to "Foxites," a question which she had raised in an earlier letter to Butler (see Related Materials.)
