Historical Note

The "barque" [bark] Jenny Pitts , captained by Hiram Hall, traveled from Galway, Ireland, around Cape Horn to Chincha Island, Peru. In Peru the ship took on a cargo of guano to be sold as fertilizer.

The G. W. Blunt White Library at Mystic Seaport has records of registry for the Jenny Pitts from 1858 through 1882.
