III. John Anderson Collection, 1925-1999
Extent: 3.3 linear ft.
Contents: Correspondence, printed books, broadsides,
keepsakes, letterhead, invitations, business cards, page proofs,
advertisements, clippings, magazines, book layouts, dummies, drawings,
photographs, proofs and prints of wood engravings, catalogs, and printed
ephemera.
Arrangement: The series is
subdivided into seven subseries: 1. Correspondence, 2. Bantam Press, 3.
Pickering Press, 4. Associations, 5. Workshops, 6. Type Distributors, and 7.
Miscellaneous. The arrangement into
these categories reflects the arrangement in which the collection was received.

Printer, book
designer, and typographer John Anderson founded Pickering Press in 1946 and
began his collaboration with wood engraver John DePol in the early 1950s During the course of their collaboration,
they became life-long friends. In fact,
