Thomas R. Carper
Congressional Papers
III.B. Personal -- Photographs, 1982-1986, n.d.

Extent: 1 linear ft. Box: 82 Arrangement: Topically, by activity or groups of people appearing with Carper. Contents: Photographs, slides, negatives. Description: Series III.B. Photographs comprises photographic images, slides, and negatives of Congressman Carper with constituents, congressional colleagues, and national and local leaders in a variety of settings. The series also includes photographic portraits of Carper. Many of the individuals in the photographs are unidentified. The majority of the photographs date between 1983 and 1986. Other photographs are found throughout the collection (see Appendix G -- List of Photographs not in Series III.B. Photographs). For example, Series I.F. Trips includes several photographs from Tom Carper's 1991 trip to Southeast Asia, which remain in their original location in the files, preserving context for the images. This series of photographic images, though limited to the early years of Carper's congressional career, documents the range of official events and activities attended by Tom Carper in Washington, D.C. and in Delaware. As is evident throughout the papers, Carper kept in constant contact with his constituents, via a variety of activities including town meetings, state festivities, and local organizational meetings. Evidence of many constituent visits to Carper's office is also found in this series.
