The Caribbean Poetry of Derek Walcott & the Art of
Romare Bearden. New York: Limited Editions Club, 1983.
Romare Bearden (1914-1988) was one of the preeminent
African American artists of the twentieth century. His
powerful works represent the places where he lived and

island of St. Martin. Religious subjects, music, especially
jazz, and history and literature are overlapping themes
