Walcott published his first poetry, 25 Poems, at nineteen. A critic described his work as "full of summery melancholy, fresh and stinging colors, luscious melody, and intense awareness of place."

This broadside poem is one of twelve copies signed by the poet. The publisher of the press, Pat Apatovsky, hand-printed the edition and illustrated the broadside with an original drawing.

Romare Bearden (1914-1988) was one of the preeminent African American artists of the twentieth century. His powerful works represent the places where he lived and worked; the rural South; northern cities, and the Caribbean island of St. Martin. Religious subjects, music, especially jazz, and history and literature are overlapping themes in his work.
