Requesting Materials

Libraries should request University of Delaware Library materials through OCLC - symbol DLM. Libraries without OCLC access can place requests through e-mail (), or send an ALA form via fax (302-831-2481) or mail (see our contact information below).

If sending an ALA form, please use one form per request, provide full citation information, and include your library's complete mailing address to ensure prompt, accurate service.

Requests cannot be accepted over the telephone.

Please verify ownership and availability in DELCAT before sending an ILL request.

Individuals interested in obtaining University of Delaware Library materials should consult with their local library for interlibrary loan service.

Loan Policies

Loan Period

Returnables are loaned for 46 days and are renewable unless recalled. Recalled material must be returned immediately.

Materials Not Available for Loan

• Audio-visual materials
• Periodicals
• Pre-1850 imprints
• Reference materials
• Software
• Special Collections
• U.S. Patents

Lost Items

If returnable materials are lost, a minimum $60.00 charge will be assessed to cover the loss of materials.

Charges & Billing

Loan Charges

Loans are provided free of charge to Delaware libraries, CIRLA libraries, RAPID reciprocal libraries, and to other libraries with existing reciprocal agreements.

Charges to all other libraries:

• U.S. libraries: $10IFM or $15 invoiced
• International libraries: $20IFM or 3 IFLA vouchers

Photocopy Charges

Photocopies are provided free of charge to non-profit Delaware libraries, CIRLA libraries, and to other libraries with existing reciprocal agreements.

Charges to all other libraries:

• Delaware for-profit libraries: $8IFM or $10 invoiced
• U.S. libraries: $10IFM or $15 invoiced
• International libraries: $20IFM or 3 IFLA vouchers

Billing Information

Billing via OCLC IFM is preferred. If invoiced, libraries will receive an invoice following shipment of materials.

University of Delaware Dissertations

University of Delaware dissertations written prior to 2005 may be loaned on ILL. Dissertations after 2005 are available only for purchase from UMI Dissertation Express. Individuals interested in consulting University of Delaware dissertations may purchase a copy through UMI or, for dissertations written prior to 2005, may request interlibrary loan service through their local library.
