Periodical articles may be popular or scholarly in tone. The Library has both types of periodicals. It is your responsibility to decide which type of information is appropriate for your research.
Typically, popular articles are informative and up-to-date but are not based on scholarly research. No bibliography or list of sources used by the author to write the article is included.
Scholarly journals are published for expert or academic readers. Scholarly journals consist mostly of "serious," research-oriented articles written by professors and other researchers for readers who already know something about the topic.
