Studios

The Student Multimedia Design Center studios are specially suited for multimedia project work. The facility offers opportunities for completing many types of projects, such as:

  • Individual video recording in a sound-isolated space with lighting control.
  • Production teams with multiple users at a single multimedia console.
  • Small group work recording and analysis.
  • Audio recording in a dedicated sound studio.
  • Collaborative projects combining the sound and production studios.

You may bring your own video equipment or borrow equipment from the service desk for use in the studios.

Studios 1-2 (capacity: 6) have Dell Precision computers.

Studios 3-4 (capacity: 6) have MacPro computers.

These computers have a variety of programs for editing audio, video and images, authoring DVDs, and publishing multimedia projects. Each studio is also equipped with a 45" LCD, covered by a SMART Board overlay [ see video ]. To view a complete list of available hardware and software, visit Hardware & Software.

Studio 5 – Skype/Digital Graphics Studio(capacity: 1)

This room serves a dual purpose. One is as a Skype studio; a quiet space for one to use Skype, a computer calling software that is useful for collaborating over large distances using audio, chat, and/or video. The other purpose of this room is as a digital graphics studio using the Wacom Centiq 24HD graphics display.

Studio 6-Sound Studio

The Sound Studio is dedicated to optimal audio recording. Vocal recording is supported with built-in equipment. Instrumental recording can be accommodated with additional equipment checked out from the service desk. In addition, the studio allows for mixing of multiple audio sources.
