Student Multimedia Design Center • Map Collection

The Map Collection is located on the Lower Level of the Morris Library in an area near the Sussman Room, Room 056. Some of the items contained in the Map Collection are:

  • Topographic map coverage for the United States, in scales ranging from 1:24,000 to 1:250,000
  • A large selection of maps covering the rest of the world, including some large scale topographic series and thematic maps
  • A series of foreign and political maps produced by the CIA that are predominantly page-size and easily reproducible
  • Atlases, gazetteers, trail guides, navigational charts, U.S. & foreign travel guides

If you need some assistance with the Map Collection, please ask at the Student Multimedia Design Center Desk.

The Reference Department of the Morris Library also has a useful collection of maps and atlases. All of these materials are available for use during the Library's regular hours.

The Library also maintains an excellent subject guide pertaining to Cartographic Information, Maps, and Spatial Data resources online.

CD-ROMs are also available that contain maps and mapping software.  Britannica Online, Encarta, Global Explorer, National Geographic Maps, and Grolier Multimedia Encyclopedia are a few databases that contain maps.

For information on maps that contain demographic as well as geographic data, please see the Digital Mapping Station page. Here are some examples of maps that were made using GIS software at the Digital Mapping Station:
